Terms and Conditions

These Terms & Conditions apply to all services provided by Dysfunktion Aesthetics, including Book Formatting, Special Editions, Additional Design, Design Proofing and Author Support. By engaging my services, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to these Terms & Conditions.ConfidentialityAll information shared with Dysfunktion Aesthetics is treated as confidential and used solely for the purpose of providing the agreed services.Project information, manuscripts and personal details will not be shared with third parties unless required to complete your project or where prior discussion and agreement has taken place.Rights & Image UsageThe client is granted an exclusive licence to use the final approved design for the agreed project.Final files will be supplied in the formats applicable to the services purchased. This may include PDF, EPUB, JPG, PNG and other production-ready file types where appropriate.Editable source files, including PSD, INDD, AI and other working files, are not supplied under any circumstances.Final design files must not be substantially altered, recreated or repurposed without prior written permission from Dysfunktion Aesthetics.Decorative interiors and design work are created using licensed stock imagery and original design work. No AI-generated artwork or imagery is used in client projects.Stock imagery is licensed under standard commercial licences unless otherwise stated. If a project is intended for merchandise or any use requiring an extended licence, this must be discussed before work begins. Any additional licensing costs are the responsibility of the client.Failure to disclose intended merchandise use may require additional licensing fees before artwork can legally be used for that purpose.Clients may supply their own imagery or artwork. The client is responsible for ensuring they hold the appropriate rights and licences to use those assets.Client ResponsibilitiesClients are responsible for supplying:The final approved manuscript.
Final cover artwork (where applicable).
Printer templates and production specifications where required.
Any licensed assets supplied by the client.Where required, clients must supply the correct printer templates for their chosen printer.Dysfunktion Aesthetics is not responsible for proofreading, editing or identifying manuscript errors unless specifically agreed as part of the project.It is the client's responsibility to review all supplied files carefully and order physical or digital printer proofs before approving a book for sale.Dysfunktion Aesthetics cannot accept responsibility for errors identified after production files have been approved or where printer proofs have not been reviewed.Changes to trim size, printer specifications, page count or production requirements after work has commenced are not included in the original quote and may incur additional charges.RevisionsA revision round consists of one consolidated list of requested changes submitted at the same time.Minor corrections are expected throughout the project.Multiple revision rounds submitted separately, significant manuscript changes or changes outside the agreed scope of work may incur additional charges.Final ApprovalOnce final production files have been approved and delivered, any additional alterations, updates, new editions, printer changes or production changes will be treated as a new project or billed at the current update rate.Existing ProjectsExisting projects can be upgraded with additional editions or services at any time.Pricing is based on the work required and any existing files that can be reused.Ebook FormattingEbook files are prepared as industry-standard EPUB files.Due to the way ebook devices, retailers and reader settings display content, ebook editions will not match printed editions exactly. Decorative print elements may not be supported across all devices, and ebook formatting is designed to prioritise readability and compatibility.Design ProofingDesign Proofing is an independent review service.Dysfunktion Aesthetics identifies potential issues and provides recommendations but does not make alterations to third-party files unless separately engaged to do so.While every effort is made to identify production issues before printing, Design Proofing cannot guarantee completely error-free files or prevent printing errors.Author SupportAuthor Support is billed monthly and reserves a set amount of availability each month.Unused hours do not roll over to future billing periods.Book Formatting, Special Editions, Additional Design and Design Proofing are not included within Author Support hours and must be booked separately.Additional Author Support hours are subject to availability and charged at the current hourly rate.Author Support does not include manuscript reading, content creation, copywriting, marketing strategy or proofreading. Any files, information or book-specific content required to complete a task must be supplied by the client.Artificial IntelligenceDysfunktion Aesthetics does not use AI-generated artwork or imagery in client projects.Decorative interiors and design work are created using licensed stock imagery and original design work.CommunicationAll project communication should take place via the existing project email thread.Project discussions conducted through social media may not be monitored and should not be relied upon for project communication.New projects should always begin with a new enquiry submitted through the Contact form to ensure a dedicated project thread is created.Dysfunktion Aesthetics is based in Australia. Response times may vary due to time zone differences.PaymentA 50% non-refundable deposit is required to secure a booking. Booking dates are not reserved until the required deposit has been received.If a project is cancelled before work has commenced, Dysfunktion Aesthetics reserves the right to retain part or all of the deposit to cover time already spent on planning, scheduling or project preparation. Once work has commenced, deposits are non-refundable.Booking dates are not secured until the required deposit has been received.Final payment must be received before final production files are released.Failure to make payment may result in work being paused or the project being cancelled.Invoices are issued in USD and are currently payable via PayPal unless otherwise agreed.Booking & SchedulingBooking dates are reserved specifically for your project. If requested files, manuscripts, approvals or other required information are not supplied in time, Dysfunktion Aesthetics reserves the right to reschedule the project to the next available booking without liability for any resulting delays.If a client becomes unresponsive for more than 30 days without prior arrangement, Dysfunktion Aesthetics reserves the right to place the project on hold or close the project. Resuming work may require booking a new project slot and may incur additional fees.TimeframesProject timelines vary depending on the scope of work and current workload.Estimated completion dates are provided as a guide only and are not guaranteed.Clients are responsible for communicating required deadlines at the time of booking. Dysfunktion Aesthetics cannot guarantee completion of undisclosed or last-minute deadlines.Delays in supplying manuscripts, approvals, printer templates or other required information may affect project timelines.Rush services may be available, subject to availability, and may incur an additional fee.Refunds & CancellationsDue to the custom nature of design work, refunds are not available once work has commenced.Any refundable balances following client cancellation will be processed within 30–60 days of cancellation unless otherwise agreed.AttributionWhere applicable, formatting, typography or design credit should be included within the book's copyright page.While not required, credit on social media or when sharing finished books is always appreciated.PortfolioUnless otherwise agreed, Dysfunktion Aesthetics reserves the right to display completed work within its portfolio, website and social media following the public release of the project or with the client's permission.Where confidentiality applies, work will not be shared until permission has been granted or the project has been publicly released.Third-Party ProductionDysfunktion Aesthetics prepares files using the production specifications and templates supplied by the client.Responsibility cannot be accepted for changes to printer templates, retailer requirements or production specifications introduced after files have been approved and delivered.Limitation of LiabilityWhile every effort is made to deliver accurate, high-quality work, Dysfunktion Aesthetics cannot be held responsible for printer errors, third-party production issues, retailer processing errors or changes made to files after final delivery.The client remains responsible for reviewing all files and approving them before publication or production.Force MajeureDysfunktion Aesthetics cannot be held responsible for delays caused by circumstances beyond reasonable control, including illness, natural disasters, internet outages, equipment failure or other unforeseen events.If this occurs, clients will be notified as soon as reasonably possible.
